Residences

The Southeast Works Residential Department provides housing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities through IRA’s (Individual Residential Alternatives). This gives the residents the opportunity to live independently with their peers and promotes decision-making initiatives.

Residential services provide opportunities for each resident to achieve their own personal goals utilizing the person-centered process, which is driven by the resident’s interest, needs and characteristics. Each resident is encouraged to strive for independence, inclusion, individualization and productivity.

Staff supervision is available 24 hours a day to provide various levels of support and guidance to each participant. Staff is specifically trained to assist the residents with their activities of daily living skills which include: cooking, housekeeping, laundry, medication administration, personal hygiene, recreation and social skills. Transportation is provided to medical appointments, personal errands and recreation events.

    Grant

Grant  The Grant Street IRA is located in Depew, and is a single floor, range style house built in August 2006. The house is warm and inviting home the six women who currently reside there. These wonderful ladies range from ages 25 to 45 and consist of some individuals requiring the use of a wheelchair. The house is accommodating and adaptive to fit the needs of the residents. The location of the IRA is convenient for our ladies as it nestles in the “backyard” of the Southeast Works workshop. All of our ladies attend the workshop and this has helped promote their independence as they travel to and from “work,” on a daily basis either alone or with minimal supervision. We are also neighbors with the Lincoln Apartments and this has become a great situation for the houses to interact with one another. The Grant Street IRA is as unique and special as the ladies who live in it.
