Southeast Works is offering a great opportunity to students to gain experience in the human service field with the population of adults with developmental disabilities. By obtaining an internship with Southeast Works the student will gain knowledge in many different aspects of the agency. Students will have a chance to work with staff and participants in the many different departments where we service our individuals. Students will have interaction with all different participants and experience how they choose to live their lives by how they think, communicate and behave.
Interns would have the opportunity to work in some of Southeast Works many different areas of service such as: sheltered workshop, Supported Employment, Day Habitation, Recreation Programs, Residential sties, Medicaid Service Coordination, Vocational Case Manager, and more.

Why volunteer at Southeast Works?
Southeast Mission states, “We provide services to help people with developmental disabilities lead productive, independent, and fulfilling lives.” As an agency we work really hard to prove our mission statement to be true, and we would like for volunteers to help us live out our mission in all of our work. Volunteers are people that care and want to help people with developmental disabilities that they are a valued part of our work force and are participating in their community. Our participants are people that the extra attention and support that a volunteer could offer.
What would a volunteer do?
A volunteer would help train and assist the participant with the job tasks at hand by working side by side with them. They would also have the opportunity to assist residential staff at the homes or enjoying a recreation event, of choice, with our participants.
- 18 years or older
- Individuals or groups are welcomed but would be spread out throughout the different rooms and departments
- Times of operation would be from 8:30am-2:30pm Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends
- Commitment can vary
- Trainings are available throughout term of volunteering
- Updated TB test
- Criminal background check (we can assist in arranging this)
